- One of the seniors earned a B on his final paper after re-organizing the information into cohesive paragraphs. (I played the part of giving some suggestions about keeping similar ideas in the same paragraphs.)
- One of the sophomores wrote a summary of our class summary. (Our activity was to review the novels the students have already read this year. We developed a summary of the story as a class, and one of the students took it a step farther. Ya for going the extra mile!)
- I emailed a parent looking for suggestions about engaging a student in the work. Then I spoke with another teacher and found out the student passed all the classes last year, and was retained for attendance failure. I'm now considering presenting this student with new material to keep his interest for the last few weeks. (Differentiating!)
- Won a "How Many Siblings Do I Have" contest with a student. Turns out we both have 5 sisters. However, she only has 2 brothers to my 3. (Building relationships.)
- Planned a project for our 90-minute block second period tomorrow. Whole-class work, group work, individual work, group work. Breaks are built in. (Effective use of instructional time.)
- Danced poorly. Stopped quickly. (Accepting personal limitations.)
6 positives. I'm going to shoot for 10 tomorrow! Growing, learning, improving.
