Post lessons for 30 days and receive feedback
Read 3 professional development pieces
Read 3 books for pure enjoyment
Run through a sprinkler
I wrote those goals the first week off from school. Wow, I stink at creating, writing or carry through on goals.
How about "find a position for next year"? Maybe "Take The Little Man to a museum, a zoo and the beach?" "Not throw away anything grown in the garden?" "Come back and finish writing this list of goals!"
Let's be serious, I'm not going to post any lessons. And - seriously - how can my goal include getting feedback? Are any of you invested in my goal and willing to say something substantive about lesson plans? Nope. You all have lives. And it's great that you take a minute or two to read some ramblings (I do appreciate your time), but you aren't invested enough to comment or critique lessons. I understand.
"Three professional development pieces"... And what exactly will those entail? Does another teacher's blog count? How about Pintrest ideas? Tweets?
Three books for enjoyment? I got this. School has been out for 5 weeks now, and I have polished off 7 books that I read just to read for enjoyment. Certainly not a rigorous goal. Four more weeks until school starts, I can easily knock off 5 or 6 more. I love reading.
Run through a sprinkler? Not going to happen. I might as well have written that I wanted to fly to the moon or jump into a volcano.
Terrible, Terrible Goals. Perhaps they can be an example of how not to write goals for my students in September... But most likely not.
